A portrait of Daena

Well, here it is... an update of Daena (and it's coloured, too). Hope you enjoy it.

Apr 21 2000 Elfwood artist: Troy L. Megli, (Click here to visit!)Haunter says: Fantastic! This pic is just as good as a photo!
May 10 2000 Elfwood artist: Tory A. Chang, (Click here to visit!)Wow, nice! I love the detail on the swords. No- don't tell me, let me guess... ::takes a guess that probably isn't right:: Watercolor pencil?
May 22 2000 Elfwood artist: Colin L. Martel, (Click here to visit!)I like the colors on this one! i never got good at watercolor myself... me like!
Oct 15 2000 Elfwood artist: Eliza M Leahy, (Click here to visit!)You do these watercolours (they are watercolors?) very well!

Yes, dear, they are watercolours!
Nov 8 2000 Elfwood artist: Tracey Nicole Peart, (Click here to visit!)What can I say but congrats! I think she's perfect.

Why, thank you, Tracey. I too, think that she looks better this way, but the whole figure seems rather a disappointment.
Dec 11 2000 Elfwood artist: Christiaan, A.Iken, (Click here to visit!)this is really a great pic , a double sword on the back is really a nice touch. making her someone to really watch out for. its also a nice compositional peice and her body leaning forward is nice too

Thanks Chris, I'm glad you like it. I'm working on another portrait of Daena in her new organic armour... *ooops* [I'm not going to say anything more until I update my Chronicles, heh, heh, heh...]
Dec 22 2000 Elfwood artist: James V. (JV) Needham, Jr., (Click here to visit!)She is beautiful! I love the watercolor, and the detail on the armour is impressive. I am duly impressed.
Feb 18 2002 Elfwood artist: Vincent N. Darlage Fantastic and beautiful artwork! I like this a lot.
Apr 13 2002 Elfwood artist: Toni Svenström wow, looks like it could be a frame capture from a movie. It really feels alive.
Oct 26 2004 Daena Gee i think she is great. Its strange to see someone else with my name though. She's a very strong character and i admire that. your handy work with a paintbrush is just awesome too. thank you! She is a tribute to the name! By the way if you ever want to find out what our name means give me a shout.
she great.... don't stop now!!!
^_^

Daena in chitonium armour

This is a rendering of Sor-Hahn's sweetheart in her new chitonium (organic) armour. The armour is actually a symbiotic organism that could be ordered to appear and disappear anytime, anywhere, by the wearer/host. Daena got it from Xefaer, during the time he kidnapped and mentally tortured her. Also note that Daena is wielding her hereditary weapons, the Seri Jentayu (blue) and Seri Garuda (red).

Dec 20 2000 Elfwood artist: Kim Van Gampelaere, (Click here to visit!)Oh yeah! She roxxx! My god, awesome use of color. Ten thumbs up ^-^ Excellent pose too! For sure one of my favo's now. Hubba hubba ^-^
Dec 20 2000 Elfwood artist: Christiaan, A.Iken, (Click here to visit!)nice complimentary colours here . i like ur new colour work.could u email me the extranet url by mail, im on a strange new computer and lost the adress.
Dec 21 2000 Elfwood artist: Troy L. Megli, (Click here to visit!)Holy .......!!!!! This is by far your best color work my friend! I'm truly impressed with this! WOW! Not to mention the fact that she's incredibly beautiful wearing that awesome suit of hers! *whistles* : )
Dec 21 2000 Elfwood artist: Richard Thomas Lankes, (Click here to visit!)The armour is incredible! The detail, the shading and contrast. The swords. They are so opposite yet compatible to one another. You know what? They should have used her rather than Darth Maul in Episode One of the Star Wars Saga. I know I would rather watch her!
Dec 31 2000 Elfwood artist: Eliza M Leahy, (Click here to visit!)I love the bright colours and the detail. It's a great character sketch.
Jan 7 2001 Elfwood artist: Gin May, (Click here to visit!)The watercolors are lovely, and the armor beautifully detailed. I also like how her proportions are fairly realistic. However I think you could have done without the bright spot you photoshopped there. Either that or made it less bright and attention drawing.
Jan 22 2001 Elfwood artist: Ayizi Sel, (Click here to visit!)I appreciate the almost abstract deal of the background, a dreamy ground on which the reality of the figure is more strong.
Jan 31 2001 Elfwood artist: Bethany L. Kosinski, (Click here to visit!)ohhh, I LIKE this one! Is this watercolor? Anyway,I really like the detail on the armor, how the scales (Are they scales?) overlap. Very well done.
Mar 1 2001 Elfwood artist: Deborah L. R. Dixon, (Click here to visit!)Great armor. Beautiful intensity in the colors.
Mar 5 2001 Elfwood artist: Richard Bergqvist, (Click here to visit!)oh man... this i like... i so would like to be able to color MY drawings... this is great - very good detail to be in watercolor (it is right?). awesome pose and background, and the armor and swords are totally kick-ass too!
Mar 21 2001 Elfwood artist: Isca Kotraseva aka Tasha Lox, (Click here to visit!)Wow, I love the colouring here, especially the out-of-focus background. Wonderful work!
Jun 14 2001 Elfwood artist: Martha Elizabeth Cundiff I'd have to say the armour and the background are my favorite parts of this pic. And I wouldn't mind having that weopan. Heheh. Youv'e done an awesome job with the colors.
Nov 19 2001 Elfwood artist: Nyla Lewis Very good art work you did, I love the colors they are great. You are very talented!
Feb 18 2002 Elfwood artist: Vincent N. Darlage Wow! The detail is magnificent, and the picture as a whole is fantastic. My jaw gaped open when I saw this. This is unbelievable work. You are exceptionally talented and gifted.
Feb 2 2003 Elfwood artist: William A. Clayton The colors and textures are fantastic in this work. Add to that the lighting and magical subject matter, well, quite a masterful work of Art!
Jun 27 2003 Rick Ryan The face looks like it's been squashed flat or somethingbut other than that I think the rest of the pic is good though i like the whole kind of mystical glow
Oct 5 2003 Elven princess of my world. WOW! I like all of it.
Spesh the background around the face!
Dec 24 2003 Anonymous This picture reminds me of Legends of Dragoon...It's cool art work though! AWESOME!
Sep 16 2005 renegade Wow i love organic armour

all stems from the symbiotes of spiderman

Red Angel of the Vanguard

This is Dardania, commander of the Crimson Vanguard of the Sanctuary. She is portrayed in her 'human' form (compared to 'Milya in her 'angelic' form). The weapon you see tucked into her belt is a keris (a really large one). More details on her in the latest addition of the Chronicles!

Dec 16 2000 Elfwood artist: Richard Thomas Lankes, (Click here to visit!)How do you get so much detail into your images???? This is alluring. Such a beautiful stare, it pulls you into her presence. The way she is standing is like a small tease. This image proves that Angels could be anybody, anywhere. Brillant!

Thanks, Richard. Glad you approved. As for the details, I don't know. I just like putting in details, I guess. But I couldn't get more of it, though. The original was on A4 paper!
Dec 16 2000 Elfwood artist: Troy L. Megli, (Click here to visit!)Simply exquisite my friend! Truly "Angelic". I think my work would be very good if I were able to make figures 1/10th this beautiful!

I'm sure you will, my friend, I'm sure you will... some day. Perhaps even better that I could.
Dec 17 2000 Elfwood artist: William Li, (Click here to visit!)i like the influence of Malay culture in the design of her outfit. she looks royal to me :)

I try to put in bits and pieces of my culture into my works. Royal? I didn't count on that... really? Maybe it's the outfit.
Dec 18 2000 Elfwood artist: Christiaan, A.Iken, (Click here to visit!)uve really gone all out on the decorative costume, i really love the skirt how it drapes over her thighs and the beautiful decoration around the edge of teh skirt. the armour is beautifu, maybe not armour but whatever its beautiful. i think ur really getting beter. she is very graceful.

Well, it's actually not armour. The actual material is a long piece of cloth wound tightly around her stomach and chest.
Dec 28 2000 Elfwood artist: John (Hui) Li, (Click here to visit!)Lovely costume design.
Jan 30 2001 Elfwood artist: Kim Van Gampelaere, (Click here to visit!)Gracefull! You are so good in drawing outfits, so detailed. Good job on the shading too. Lovely.
May 25 2002 Elfwood writer: Claire Rachael Louise LaneThe detail here is supperb, amazing and wow!
I love the clothing here and she is very graceful in the way she is moving!
I approve 200%
May 26 2002 Elfwood artist: Linda GockWonderful detail, so neat and well shaded. I like the traditional influence to her costume.
Jun 29 2002 Elfwood artist: Marie-Claude MongeonThe costume design is gorgeous, and oh-so elegant! The details are stunning. Beautiful shading!

Dec 31 2003 artemisi must agree i love this kinda thing - i just finneshed loking at all your other visitors websites and (sorry guys) you site is the best i love how you look at things and it gives the feel and knowlage that you havent yet reacked the peek of technology creating a world full of magic and wonder. its a real acomleshmint for an artist to have somone look at you atr and just get that feeling -i cant deskribe it its just like acompleshment ,excitment, longing and joy all in one ood job!! :) Cheereo!

21 Praise be to God, my friend... for it is from Him that I get my skills... and I thank you for the inspiring comment, but the other artists are in a class of their own, and each of them has special abilities and skills that I may lack...

Dilla

This is the third in a series of my most recent digital works. This is a fantasy piece, not having any real connections with the Malay world... The costume was based on that of one of the indegenous tribes in Borneo (I cannot say which)... See any similarities between Dilla and any of the other works here? Note to the Elfwood Moderators: This piece was created using photos from my own collection - no copyright issues here... This is an ORIGINAL work.

Jan 31 2003 Tyler A very well done piece. I enjoy the the way that you have used little "dots" of colour, built upon the others to create depth. Your use of lighting has given this work an interesting illusion, i.e. from far away she is in focus. From closer up, she becomes a little fuzzy. Good work. I hope that you will share other works of this type with the world.
Mar 20 2003 Larmin Dwuinegingertom84@yah...com> < That lady is really, seriously sweet looking. I mean real SWEET! Enough to get me drooling but not turning me into a barbarian. :P No offense but.... phew... the more I look at her the more I wanna date her... Is that your wife? Oooopsiieee.... No offense okey.... I draw & write fantasy too... I hope we could exchange ideas... I'm from KL, a chinese boy here. I'm basing my world on oriental motives too. I do hope we could create something together... Hear u soon...
May 20 2003 pagan I think this is a really lovely picture and it takes a lot to impress me but this picture definitely does!!!!
May 30 2003 Elfwood artist: Joellena S. 'azul' Asher Excellent use of color, and a great composition. The digital interpretation enhances this beautiful pic. Very nice.
Jun 27 2003 Rick Ryan Did u actually draw this or did u scan in a photo and alter it in photoshop?
Nov 20 2004 Elfwood artist: Matthew Jarvis Hockaday This is my favorite peice of yours..its too bad you didn't paint it...although its a nice digital picture.

The Duel

As the title suggests, this was the deadly duel between Daena and Rian, which very nearly resulted in the latter's demise, if it wasn't for her brother. This is quite a new concept for me, as I usually draw things first and make up a story later... Perhaps I just wanted to give some picture of what it was like!

DateNameComment
Oct 14 2000 Elfwood artist: Troy L. Megli, (Click here to visit!)Great movement! I didn't realize that Rian was so much smaller though.

Technical error! I hate it when these things happen. Actually, I had not intended on a background for this pic, that's how come Rian looks really small! But try thinking of it this way: Rian is far off in the background!
Nov 5 2000 Elfwood artist: Joellena S. 'azul' Asher, (Click here to visit!)fabulous details (as always, do i say this too often?) and outside of the technical difficulties previously noted a really ripping pic! much more movement on the part of your human characters than i'm used to seeing. very nice.

Perhaps I should make more of these? What do you think, Azul?
Nov 7 2000 MichaelI simple trick to cure the size problem: You should sacrifice some part of the left leg by moving that tree up in front (covering the leg) that shoulf solve the problem.

Thank you, Micheal. I'll see what I can do about that.
Nov 7 2000 Elfwood artist: Joellena S. 'azul' Asher, (Click here to visit!)oh yes make more! not only will you eventually work out the technical stuff but it's more eye-candy for the rest of us in the mean time.
Jan 20 2001 Elfwood artist: Laura Rhoades-Stovall, (Click here to visit!)I just can not think of what to say..this is soo well done!!
Feb 24 2001 Elfwood artist: Jessica 'Deca' Lamb, (Click here to visit!)It looks more like two different pictures... It just doesn't look like they're fighting each other... Oh well it's very nicely drawn though, you're very good at drawing people!
Apr 7 2001 Elfwood artist: John Teall, (Click here to visit!)yes the 'smaller' figure does appear simply that much further away which is what i immagined in the first place - though what exactly the closer figure is doing and why remains a bit puzzling - (being massively ignorant of edged weapon tactics as i am ... ~;)
Oct 24 2001 Elfwood artist: Saul Wilcox I have a secret love for fighters with two swords, and the pose is really good...I guess the other character looks a little small but it's still a very good drawing! Well done, could do with some solid shading on it.
Jan 2 2003 EL-Sheh-To Rain seems somewhat feeble near this armored woMAN.
Apr 1 2004 The Wise Great pic. Very cool.

Faryna

This is a picture of Faryna, a warrior in one of my unpublished, untitled short stories. She is a cavalry commander and is armed with a lethal battleaxe. She has light armour on, consisting of chainmail and plate armour.

Apr 10 2000 Elfwood artist: Christine Osborne, (Click here to visit!)Well from what I can see it looks really good, but it's way WAY too small!!!
Apr 14 2000 Elfwood artist: Troy L. Megli, (Click here to visit!)she looks like she's just been in a battle or that the armour is really heavy... maybe both? the detail work is just Superb!
Apr 14 2000 -Alang-I thought I have changed this one to a larger version... Well, have to do it again! Sorry for the inconvenience!
Apr 15 2000 -Alang-I did!
Aug 26 2000 jakempI like the pic but why does she have a low cut breastplate? make it higher and put a helmet in somewhere? Face seems odd too... not sure what
Jan 3 2001 Elfwood artist: Melissa A Hitchcock, (Click here to visit!)I think it's more the proportions that are a bit ascew. Unless she only stands 4 feet tall her body does need to be larger. Nice details and rendering on that armor!
Feb 13 2001 pitThat's very funny! My name is FARYNA but unfortunately I am not a warrior. I wonder - how did you find the name? and of course I would like to know your stories about ? "me". Furthermore, I like the picture however the face is rather underdone.
Apr 7 2001 Elfwood artist: John Teall, (Click here to visit!)normaly there is a problem with that combination but this version of it might very well work just fine ... depending on how it assembles and how much it can dissassemble to come off ... ~;)
Jul 31 2001 Kaiseecool142@hot...com> < "Mumma told me coffee stunted yer growth. And now I gots proof!"
Fascinating detail work, I enjoy your art.
Jun 27 2003 Rick Ryan It's quite a good pic although it looks a bit out of proportion to me, the body looks a bit too small for the head.

Lord Gnarrak in person...

Well, for those of you who have been wondering what Lord Gnarrak really looked like (instead of just seeing his face), here he is! His armour is 'organic', meaning that it grew in him, and he can't take it off! Well, what do you think?

Oct 14 2000 Elfwood artist: Troy L. Megli, (Click here to visit!)You did a fantastic job on him!!! The pic of his face didn't really do him justice! This is great!

Thanks, Troy. I knew you'd like him... well, the way he looks, I mean!
Nov 5 2000 Elfwood artist: Joellena S. 'azul' Asher, (Click here to visit!)yay, cool feet! i can't imagine that he owns a water bed. or that laying on his side would be terribly comfortable but those spikes would be valuable in a fight.

Sometimes I myself wonder if this vile creature ever sleeps... or ever needs sleep for that matter....
Feb 24 2001 Elfwood artist: Jessica 'Deca' Lamb, (Click here to visit!)Gahhhh! *Runs away in horror*
Apr 7 2001 Elfwood artist: John Teall, (Click here to visit!)since his armour is indeed a part of his physical self it is not inconceivable that he might be able to reabsorb portions of it if need be ... ~;)
Jun 2 2002 Elfwood artist: Hannes 'Högni' Meyer Innovative race design!!! :) Really cool fiend :) Somehow he reminds me of the Jem'Hadar from Star Trek DS9... I like it!
Oct 16 2002 Elfwood artist: Zachariah Campbell But how does he go to the bathroom...? No wonder he's so angry.

Cool pic, BTW
Feb 19 2004 Elfwood artist: Amanda Lewin Wow his feet look great :)

Legion of the Wolf

Here they are, the Comanders of the Legion of the Wolf. Standing, back row: Irkus, Myaz, Fay'zr and Nifarr. Middle row: Suzerain, Daena and Sor-Hahn. Sitting in front are Aesha and Rian, who is seen leaning on her brother's lap. This pic was 'taken' during the Sor-Hahn's party, the night Daena disappeared.

Oct 31 2000 Elfwood artist: Troy L. Megli, (Click here to visit!)*G* OK Everyone! Group Photo!!! Looks great Alang! I'm amazed that you're able to keep all of them looking the same here as they do in the single pic's! Great!

Thanks, Troy! I tried very hard, but did not seem to achieve what I wanted....
Nov 2 2000 Elfwood artist: Christiaan, A.Iken, (Click here to visit!)wo, your not happy with this. i think its great. the detail in the picture and its cool a group photo idea. i really like it. must have been hard to make.

I'm quite satisfied with the details, it's just the faces that I'm not satisfied with. By the way, it took me a couple of weeks to complete (the original was done on A4 paper!)
Nov 5 2000 Elfwood artist: Joellena S. 'azul' Asher, (Click here to visit!)such cool weapons! fabulous armor. the husband really likes the warhammer (?) on the left. you should be proud of such a complicated picture only a few tiny little details are off. and i'm with troy on the consistancy between your pics. not an easy thing that. i'm very impressed.

Maybe I should make one of the weapons only? Since the weapons alone could get so much attention? The husband's right, it is a warhammer!
Nov 7 2000 Elfwood artist: Joellena S. 'azul' Asher, (Click here to visit!)me again, i think a portrait of the weapons would be excellent. weapon choice and style say a great deal about a person, it gives us more insight into the characters of these people.

Am working on that... will have it soon!
Nov 9 2000 Elfwood artist: Stanton F. Fink, (Click here to visit!)Family portrait? Or a class photo?

Let me see... a little of both, I guess? They are -technically- a family, and their affiliation to one common side makes then kinda like classmates, don't you think?
Jan 1 2001 Endorfso many details.. very nice! Are they all in their normal armour or is this a sort of "gala uniform dress" ? Oh, and i think there's -5- ppl standing in the back and only -2- in the middle row, that doesn't match your description above ...

1 Comment From The Artist: From my point of view: 4 in the back, 2 sitting in the middle with another one standing, and 2 sitting in front... Right? Sorry for the extremely late reply...

Apr 7 2001 Elfwood artist: John Teall, (Click here to visit!)they must be seriously into the 'be prepaired' trip if they party in their armour - but i suppose that would make sense as i get the impression the're kind of the elite special forces kind of corps ... (then again they'd almost certainly be wearing their finest spit and pollished armour for an official group portrait anyway ... ~;)

2 Comment From The Artist: Yes, Mr Teall, you are correct. They are an elite special forces group. And they are really serious about "be prepared"... and yes, they would also be putting on their best armour at a function such as this one!

Jun 4 2001 Elfwood artist: Lara UnnerstallI love group pictures. This one is no exception! All that detail, its amazing. They all clearly have a bond with one another. Very, very good. Keep it up!
Dec 22 2001 Elfwood artist: Revin P. WatisonWonderful drawing. I love the detailing.
May 2 2002 Kim Vivian (aka) SaffronI applaud your group rendering. I fear screwing up one figure and killing off the work through. Lots of great details. Keep up your fine talent. Namasti

Isisz

This is another character from Faryna's world. She's actually a demigod, but she doesn't know it yet. Her name is taken fron that of the Egyptian goddess Isis.

Apr 14 2000 Elfwood artist: Troy L. Megli, (Click here to visit!)A Demigoddess? Well, I'd like to hear a little more 'bout that. She also looks a bit upset with something! I like the way that you've done the Egyptianish style with her!
Apr 7 2001 Elfwood artist: John Teall, (Click here to visit!)isis the healer who thanks to her undying love was able to reassemble osiris - (though she did have to spend rather a long time looking for his 'missing part' as i seem to recall ... ~;)
Dec 31 2003 artemisheres the scoop on isis , The Goddess of love and destiny, and daughter of nut and geb .She married her brother Osiris and there son was Horus.
Isis was a devoted wife and mother who used her magic powers to restore to life both Osiris and Horus after they had been killedby seth. she is often portrayed nursing an infant horus
Dec 31 2003 artemisAdding to my last blippet i lve how the shot came out sorry of the other thing was to lengthy iam a fanatic! :)
Dec 31 2003 artemisWhats happening to my blippits ? I put in like a dozen and now there gone !!!! Spill! Where do they go!

14 Thanks for the "blippits"... they're still here...

Apr 16 2004 Artemis Well if theyer still HERE then why dont you respond to any of my stuff and why do they go poof!
Apr 16 2004 Artemis Hey! cool my thing didnt go poof when i typed it in ,Yaaaay

Katrin the Infiltrator

This is the latest view of Katrin. The last one didn't really work out, I guess. This one's more realistic, don't you think? As you all may have known, Katrin's a shape-shifting spy working for the Abode. She nearly wiped out the entire Legion of the Wolf... what more could you ask for?

DateNameComment
Oct 5 2000 Elfwood artist: Joellena S. 'azul' Asher, (Click here to visit!)pretty cool. i like the markings, is that paint or natural camoflage, could just be the out fit. best part is her face though, very cool and mysterious.

Natural camouflage and outfit. She is a spy. And an assassin. The camouflage helps, and her face makes it easier for her - she doesn't need a mask! Anyway, if you would honour me by reading my story (The Maritulu Chronicles), she does not have much difficulty turning herself into anyone she desires.
Oct 7 2000 MicahHey, that's pretty cool! I like the way you did the face, so that you cannot really make out who she is too well (a rightful way to portray a shapeshifter). You did the body correctly as well (something in which i need to work on...) Cool pic! :)

Really, Micah? Well, thanks a lot. Took me quite a while to get Katrin right, I mean the way I wanted her to look like... well, you know.
Oct 13 2000 Elfwood artist: Troy L. Megli, (Click here to visit!)I like this one even better than the colored version. It seems really strange though that her face is missing... love the pose! very sexy.

Oooh... sexy! Not to mention deadly...
Oct 15 2000 Elfwood artist: Eliza M Leahy, (Click here to visit!)Now in this one you got the proportions jusssttt right! :)

Thank you... (at last, no more supermodel heroines! Yea!) =)
Nov 2 2000 Elfwood artist: Andreas Carlund, (Click here to visit!)She looks cool but what appened to her mouth? looks like it's been erased. She could be the next Solid Snake:)

Do not worry, her mouth has not been erased. It's just a common feature of Infiltrators not to have mouths. Some of these are able to comunicate via telepathy, which eliminates the need for a mouth. How do they eat? Guess.
Nov 6 2000 Elfwood artist: Javier Duron, (Click here to visit!)This is my favorite. Maybe because I was in the military (Marines). Great pose, she looks like she just kicked ass and now she's admiring her work.

You were in the Marines? Must have been tough. Anyway, Katrin was actually contemplating to kick ass,... again.
Mar 2 2001 Elfwood artist: Daniel N. Brewer, (Click here to visit!)Nice proportions on her... her chest actually looks like a real body! YAY! I like her har too. Her biceps seem a TINY bit small if she ever has to climb, but she could just be real ripped under the clothes.
Apr 7 2001 Elfwood artist: John Teall, (Click here to visit!)as shape shifter i'm immagining her atire is part of her physical substance - but i wonder how she carries her armiment if she turns into what might otherwise appear to some ordinary wild creature - perhaps it remains strapped to her in analagous ways or conversely dissappears into biological pockets - such trivialities though by no means essential always fascinate me somewhat ... ~;)
Feb 9 2003 Anonymousshe is beautiful I espesialy like her tiger stripes.Do you give lessons?
Jan 3 2004 artemisi like how you make her outfit lokk just like part of her . Wait is it part of her ?! iam confused . ow my brain hurts! i think i shold lye down befor i hurt myself.

18 Comment From The Artist: The outfit is actually a part of her... perhaps the earlier comments would explain the concept...

Apr 16 2004 Artemis Well you hadent responded to the other coments when i wrote that!

Immortal Guardian

...And suddenly she appeared in all her splendour... Silvery armour molded to her every curve, magnificent crown upon her head, the blade Angelfire in her right hand... Her eyes blinding portals into which no mere mortal could stand to look... Bright blue incandenscens shone from her material self, putting all those around her -friend and foe alike- in a deep trance... For she is the angel 'Milya, Immortal Guardian to the Chosen One and her Benefactor, the deadliest warrior-angel the Planes have ever known. (and I dedicate this to Joellena 'Azul' Asher)

Nov 4 2000 Elfwood artist: Troy L. Megli, (Click here to visit!)I am truly amazed and impressed my friend! She is indeed exquisite!!! both in design and in her beauty! I LOVE the detailing and pose, I can also see her exactly how you've decribed the colors and would love to actually see a version of her that way! Awesome work Alang! I know Azul will love it too!

Thanks, Troy! Must say that this one's quite okay, considering it's a first attempt! As for Azul, I haven't heard from her yet (sure hope you're right!)
Nov 5 2000 Elfwood artist: Joellena S. 'azul' Asher, (Click here to visit!)did i just hear my name? curse troy for the hyperactive elfwood jockey that he is! dedicated to me and i don't even get the first comment. well i'll sulk later. let's see, love her pose, love her wing position, very cool armor (as always). great weapon. really, really snifty. (the husband says snifty squared.)

Oh... don't worry, my dear. He may have first comment, but you have the dedication! Actually, I'm not entirely satisfied with her pose, but since you said it's okay, well, then, it is!
Nov 6 2000 Elfwood artist: Javier Duron, (Click here to visit!)I agree with both comments. It is a great pose and I love the shading. Keep up the good work.

Aye, that's an affirmative!
Nov 7 2000 Elfwood artist: Stanton F. Fink, (Click here to visit!)She's got a BIG sword...

Sure is BIG alright!
Nov 7 2000 MichaelI guess i'ts just a scetch with those short arms and so on. Nice sword, probably usless for an winged race, but that doesn't count for an angel. In Sweden were I live, swords with an hole trou the blade behind the tip like this one has ben used primarly for executions.

Really? I didn't know that. Wonder what the hole was for? Anyway, 'Milya's sword was modelled after a legendary sword of Islamic origin, the sword Zulfaqar, which belonged to the Prophet Muhammad.
Nov 14 2000 Elfwood artist: Stanton F. Fink, (Click here to visit!)Suddenly, I am reminded of the "Immortals," of ancient Persia.

Again, would you please fill me in on the subject?
Nov 20 2000 Elfwood artist: Kim Van Gampelaere, (Click here to visit!)Hubba hubba! I really like how those wings turned out. And the outfit is splendid. I especially love that belt...

I'm glad you liked this one, Kimtje!
Nov 24 2000 Elfwood artist: Christiaan, A.Iken, (Click here to visit!)one of your best anatmoical peices. and really gorgoues wings. the only thing i have to say which i might warn u about is try not to hide hands behind the body or feet or anyting ilke that, i konw you choose to cut of the feet , thats fine in this case, but the hand does seem to be hidden a nd makes it elegant, but hiding hands is hiding somepart of the body that is really expressive. thats jus tmy two cents. this is a wonderful peice though and its one of your best anatomical peices yet.

Thanks, Chris, I really appreciate the narrative comment. I'll keep that in mind.
Dec 12 2000 Elfwood artist: Richard Thomas Lankes, (Click here to visit!)AAAAAARRRRRRGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH.....why is it that everyone else draws better Angels than I do?! This is celestially beautiful!

Perhaps you should see her in her human form? coming up next!
Jan 31 2001 Elfwood artist: Bethany L. Kosinski, (Click here to visit!)Oh my....I really like the wings, and the armor as well. Makes me want to work on my angelic characters some more (my last pic turned out wonky).
Mar 2 2001 Elfwood artist: Daniel N. Brewer, (Click here to visit!)Beautiful... I don't know about the hidden hand, it looks like she's in the middle of stepping towards us given the particular posture of her legs and shoulders. Her right arm seems a tiny bit short but that might just be because of foreshortening (and I just woke up). The wings are soo graceful!
Feb 6 2003 AnonymousNeed to learn more on how to draw a women body part detaily
Mar 5 2003 Elfwood artist: Nares RoungrojkarnrananWoo...Nice pic, she look really strong, and her wing is so neat.
Jan 3 2004 artemisHowthe hek do you draw like that!?!?!?!?! ?!?!?!?!?!? !??!?!?!?!? !?!?!?!?! ?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?? !?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

14 Honestly? I don't know... I just do... Thanks for the comments, anyway!

Apr 16 2004 Artemisyou just do. You just do! YOU JUST DO!!!

Man sometimes i wonder about my own sanity
Jul 19 2004 ArtemisRight handed, right handed, right handed! Why is everyone always right handed! What about the left handed people!
(Note to who ever may read this, I am mainly just going to go on ranting and raving so don't waste your time)
What about the left handed people in this world who have to cope with all of the things made for right handed people!
like scisers for example. If you have to cut a lot and i mean a lot of paper and you have to do it in a short period of time you work like heck until its done and you get an incredibly painful cramp.
now imagine having to do the same amount of cutting but with the wrong hand the pain is terrible.
So now i am going to say please please please make someone left handed
because left handed people have feelings two ya know!
('Sniffle')('Tear')
And also if you notice that i have realy bad spelling that is just what happens when you have me write something
Aug 9 2004 joeWow! That is indeed a marvelous drawing. How long did it take you to draw it? And are you a professional?

1 Comment From The Artist: It took me a couple of hours... Heh... if I were a pro, I wouldn't be here...

Mirinda

Mirinda is a character inspired by a model on the cover of a women's magazine. I wanted to give her some armour but I decided to keep her original clothes on. Maybe I'll come up with a picture of Mirinda in armour soon! I imagined her as a sleek and deadly assassin, who will work for the highest bidder.

Apr 10 2000 Elfwood artist: Ursula Vernon, (Click here to visit!)Very well rendered face...nice detail. Maybe a little more highlight on the lips to define the shape, but that's my only thought.
Apr 10 2000 Elfwood artist: Christine Osborne, (Click here to visit!)*LOL* she reminds me of my futuristic bounty hunter Angel...on one of her good days. I really like her eyes and the way her lips are all pouty like, the top she's wearing doesn't look that bad either ^_^
Apr 12 2000 Elfwood artist: Michael John Morris, (Click here to visit!)Looks great! really nice work.
Apr 14 2000 Elfwood artist: Troy L. Megli, (Click here to visit!)Also did a great job on her as well, (she looks very upset at the moment!) wouldn't want to be around her if you gave her a dagger!
Apr 14 2000 Elfwood artist: Daena M. Ortego, (Click here to visit!)Wonderful expression! She looks cool, calculating and TOUGH, while still remaining feminine and pretty -- tough to pull off and you did a great job of it. I think her lips look fine, by the way.
Apr 14 2000 Elfwood artist: H.M. Muhammad Hanif, (Click here to visit!)Actually, I've replaced the original. This one's lips are lighter. Thanks for the comment.
Apr 16 2000 Elfwood artist: Andreas Östlund, (Click here to visit!)The shading is awesome! Now why does she look so pissed?
Apr 18 2000 Elfwood artist: Joellena S. 'azul' Asher, (Click here to visit!)i really like this one technically superior and beautiful subject matter.
Apr 21 2000 Elfwood artist: Maya Jean, (Click here to visit!)I really like this one. It is so nicely done, and what makes this image so strong is the emotion that it inspires... You placed an emotion on her face that is really great :)
May 16 2000 Elfwood artist: Anneth A. Lagamo, (Click here to visit!)Critique #2: Great study of the face--the light direction in this is good. The eyes stand out, and you've managed to get the value pattern of the shadows. I think you could've pushed the shadows under her chin a bit more, and perhaps elongate the distance bwn lip and nostril. Other than that, great work!! =)

Roger that!
Jul 29 2000 Elfwood artist: Martin Baldysz, (Click here to visit!)My bleedin god...This one oozes of expression... It looks to me that you've bought the 1.class ticket on the expression train....Kepp it epp...
Aug 10 2000 AmandaThis picture is really amazing, it really shows so much emotion and it's quite unbelievable how real she looks!

Well, this is one of those 'one in a million' pieses that really work when they're supposed to. I was just lucky, I guess.
Apr 7 2001 Elfwood artist: John Teall, (Click here to visit!)she seems seriously annoyed/displeased - makes me wonder what about - or maybe she's just psyching herself up to do the deed - or perhaps a wee bit disgusted at her own handiwork - or at someone blowing her cover by interupting her at the wrong moment - or just offering her an insulting low compensation - armour would seem a bit contrary to the concept of assassin as i understand it - but i suppose in some cases it would make sense - like ranged weapons from ambush on the off chance of an ambush of the ambush or stray return fire ... ~;)
Nov 13 2001 AmandaBack Again.
I absolutely love this! After looking all over the internet for a picture to base a story on for my English class at school, I chose this one because of the way it grabbed me when I first saw it. I love the intense look on her face!
I called her Shae-li though and she wasn't an assassin but a graduate of a military college out for revenge.
Thanks for providing the inspiration! I'm still working on the story - more than a year after I handed in the first version. *<;))

13 Comment From The Artist: I am honoured to have one of my characters inspire the creation of another...

Nov 15 2001 Richard AucoinShe kinda looks like the girl in the Nickelback video - How you remind me...
Jan 29 2002 Mirindahey that's pretty sweet, my name is Mirinda too!
Jan 8 2003 Elfwood artist: Christina 'Vaya' Krogh EmiliussenI really like that angry, hurt expression of her!!! And so beautiful drawn. I wish I'd done this one!!
Nov 2 2003 AnonymousShe looks alot like "the angry princess" from THIRTEEN GHOSTS, too. Nice work.
Dec 19 2003 AnonymousDang, shes HOT! i mean, SMOKIN'!! Keep it up!

1 Comment From The Artist: Glad you like it... I'll see what I can do next time...

Apr 16 2004 Artemis Awsome art the sshading is just right, but the face looks like its missing something in it ...i dont know, mabey you can figur it out.
Jul 19 2004 Artemis The face still looks like its missing something but it looks almost like it could have a menicing tumult of storm clouds in the background. Ya know like fire and brimstone.

Commander of the Light Cavalry

This is Myaz, another character from the Chronicles. She is the commander of Sor-Hahn's light cavalry. Note the handle of the weapon sticing out from behind her back. It's actually a spiked club known as the Ratnamira, Myaz' hereditary weapon.

Oct 14 2000 Elfwood artist: Troy L. Megli, (Click here to visit!)It's really a shame that someone with intelligent caring eyes and being so beautiful would have to be involved with any kind of army or things that involve destruction.

Beauty and the Beast, Troy... or in this case, Beauty is the Beast!
Oct 15 2000 Elfwood artist: Eliza M Leahy, (Click here to visit!)The face and head is beautifully done, but the shoulders and arms lack the fullness to go with it. They are a little undersized for the size of her head (unless she were a super model!) and definately undersized if she is going to go around swinging a club! The pencil shading is beautiful though :)

Thanks for the critique, Eliza. I'll work on that (only that using supermodels or artists for models don't really work, eh?) BTW, the Spiked Club is actually made of fairly light material, and the way in which Myaz uses the club lacks the need for much energy... then agai, perhapd I should enlarge her arms!
Oct 19 2000 LallieI'd have to agree with the comment above. the arms don't really fit. i think there your weakest point on this drawing. Which i love. shes really pretty and i like the idea that shes not what she seems. i think its excelent.

Thanks a lot, Lallie. Glad you liked it. I'm still trying to improve on proportions when I'm doing portraits, though.
Nov 5 2000 Elfwood artist: Joellena S. 'azul' Asher, (Click here to visit!)your work with expression and faces is improving exponentially. she is beautiful. the hair is wonderful too. i didn't notice the arm problem until i read the comments. i'd say it's not too terribly noticeable. this is a great pic.

What can I say? Thanks again, Azul.
Nov 14 2000 Elfwood artist: Natacha Choquet, (Click here to visit!)Hi, well, even if her arms don't fit, her eyes are so beautiful that I can't see anything else :-)
Jan 8 2001 Elfwood artist: Terrell M. Smith-Dorfeo, (Click here to visit!)The pose of this piece is very refreshing....
Jan 31 2001 Elfwood artist: Bethany L. Kosinski, (Click here to visit!)She's so beautiful and innocent-looking....she really doesn't strike me as the miltary kind. ^_^
Feb 20 2001 Elfwood artist: Maria Martins, (Click here to visit!) Hey, come on! Leaders of the calvary can be innocent looking! I bet she's got on a mean face when she meets her enemy. Hey Alang! Thankee for that e-mail. Please e-mail me when you put up the payanag people or leave a comment down at my site. I've got some new pictures up so drop by if you want too...
Apr 7 2001 Elfwood artist: John Teall, (Click here to visit!)i've always though a cool interpretation of 'light cavelry' would be photonic equines - forgive my being wierd - cool immage ... ~;)
May 1 2001 George Bryerton (Gallery 730)Lovely. The face and hair are masterfully rendered. You have my admiration. Did you use a model for this picture? If so I'd love to know who. I would like to use her image as well.
Mar 16 2002 Elfwood artist: Kate 'Ice Wolf' McDonald::Gasp:: She is beautiful! Yeah why is she in war? She does have a sense of softness about her, of a caring, good heart. Again, somehow, the shoulders look too small to me, but maybe thats just me, I'm the doofus who can't seem to get her characters right. I just draw all my women meaty, just cause I have broad shoulders(for a female), doesn't mean all women do...
Oct 30 2002 Anonymous <silentrequiem13@yah...com>This is a beautiful image... She has this strange sense of familiarity about her to me.. Did you use this based on a real person? I could swear I have seen her before. Nevertheless, you are quite talented. Keep up the good stuff!
~@~ Mistress Cat ~@~
Feb 23 2003 Elfwood artist: Katie K. WalkerVery beutiful. The girl's face is very unique and somehow strong, despite her age. *applauds*
Feb 25 2003 NotAnAddictHmm hmmaaa. Reminds me of a picture of tori amos i have...
Apr 6 2003 Elfwood artist: Dave RitcherdsenShe looks really pretty. I'm glad you resisted the urge (well, for the most part) to draw cleavage.
Jun 24 2003 Elfwood artist: Elizabeth Bronwyn WellsI like it a lot!!! I like her face and how she actually has practical clothing, unlike plenty of women in armor i've seen. craziness. i like it!!!!
Jun 27 2003 Rick RyanI like the face of the girl but I think the body looks a bit out of proportion like it's too small or something.
Sep 21 2003 Myra FaediraDude! I LOVE this picture! Her face is awesome! There is absolutely nothing I would suggest that I think wouldn't ruin the whole affect of the picture! This is so AWESOME!
Apr 16 2004 ArtemisI hate you i hate you i hate you i hate you i hate you!You draw to wellahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh( currently i am ripping my hair out,ow,ow,ow,ow,ow,ow,you get the point.
Apr 16 2004 ArtemisOh just one more comment , her arm on the left side, where the joint is just an inch or so below the armor the arm goes i a little to far, just a smug.
Jul 6 2004 Elfwood writer: Amy J. CookGorgeous!
Jul 6 2004 Elfwood writer: Amy J. Cookjust to rave a bit more...i like her a lot because she doesn't have that pretentious warrior-woman i'm-so-tough look about her...like yeah, she's a warrior, but it's her job and she doesn't place herself on a pedestal for it...unlike Xena...damn Xena...

12 Comment From The Artist: Well... Thank you! I think you've interpreted her quite well... Yes, she's a warrior and it's her job... but she also takes it as her responsibility. Another point is that I'm trying to say that warriors need not to look "tough", because many of my fellow silat warriors (especially the ladies) do not have that look... Hehehe... Kinda misleading, eh?

Jul 17 2004 Singollo WOW THAT IS AMAZING, very good, but it reminds me of a girl in neverwinternight

Naga chulalongkorni

Well, this may look like your average serpentine dragon, but actually it is a Naga, literally huge serpent. Nagas were said to be royal guardians in local mythology, Siamese as well as Malay. (For those who are confused: Siam is the old name for Thailand, a country located just north of Malaysia) I got the inspiration from a photo of the Siamese Royal Barge (one of a few). The specimen was actually seven-headed, but I think that the other 6 identical heads will just fill the page and blot out details. I'll work on a full version later.

Oct 4 2000 Elfwood artist: Troy L. Megli, (Click here to visit!)I'm VERY impressed with this!!! (my usual here) You have to do this one in color! With the other 6 heads this one would be quite formidable!

The other 6? Well, I gotta put in extra time on this one. Thanks anyway!
Oct 5 2000 Elfwood artist: Joellena S. 'azul' Asher, (Click here to visit!)i'm with troy on this one, very impressive. six more of these eh? you have your work cut out for you. one heck of a guardian though. very well done.

Thanks a lot. Let's see what I can do...
Nov 18 2000 MariaHi there, greetings from Maria from Thailand! This creature is called the Payanag in Thailand. The seven headed one was *I forgot the name* came up to shelter Buddah from the rain one day. That's how I remember it.
Nov 27 2000 Elfwood artist: Maria Martins, (Click here to visit!)Hey Alang! I hope you come in and check your page because somehow, my Internet's going real slow today and I can't teply to you :P! Anyway, I got another piece of information on the Payang (by the way, I don't mind you using the name), my mom told me that when thse payanags live in their underwater homes, they actually are humans :O! But when they come up to the surface, they turn back into Payanags! I was thinking it'll be cool if you do a drawing of the human payanag! Oh, by the way I became an elfwood artist and my work sucks compared to yours :P. Check it out anyway though.

Thanks, Maria, and welcome to the Woods. My gratitude on the info on the Payanag. I'll try to make something up of what they look like in human form. See ya!
Dec 19 2000 awriterEep! Scary! Hmm...I wanna do research on this fellow now...he looks interesting. (He also reminds me of the evil sandworm monster things that are in a book of mine...) Definately try to do a full version!! I bet it would turn out great!
Apr 7 2001 Elfwood artist: John Teall, (Click here to visit!)if the book 'awriter' is talking about happens to be dune (or any of frank herbert's dune series) the sandworms arn't 'evil' - just dangerous - and also the source of 'spice' - the drug that makes navigating the spaceways possible in the context of that series of stories - as for naga's - arn't they also somewhere in hindu mythology - perhaps it was somewhere in india or nepal where that one was supposed to have sheltered budha from the monsoon - i don't know - mostly guessing but i seem to remember having read something somewhere other then just in the context of the usual fantasy/rpg ones ... ~;)
Jan 9 2003 Elfwood artist: Megaera Callisto Lorenz What a cool creature! Looks like a dilophisaurus with an attitude. I can't wait to see it with all of its heads.
Apr 4 2003 Chael Unnell Nagas came from ancient India (It means snake(cobra) in both Sanskrit and Hindi), and in Hindu mythology nagas are represented as half human half snake, sorta like how a mermaid is put together. But I've read that other cultures sometimes change their appearance, such as this pic maybe?

I think you did a great job, and it sure looks fearsome.
Apr 16 2004 Artemis This is to relay with maria martins, about how these thing can turn human, well the same thing happens with dragons and crows ,sept dragons died out and crows hate walking like "Two leggers".

Princess Naralina

Princess Naralina is the first of a new series of digitally modified and enhanced images that I intend to put up. Her outfit is based on that of the traditional Malay royalty. This particular outfit is named 'Che Siti Wan Kembang' after an ancient Kelantanese queen. Note to the Elfwood Moderators: This is an ORIGINAL work utilizing photos from my private collection, so there are no copyright issues here.
